MK Indie Book Fair 2026

Alongside the main MK Indie Book Fair, families can enjoy a lively programme of interactive workshops, mini‑readings, and creative adventures designed to spark imagination and build confidence in young readers and creators. You can book workshop places in advance, or join us on the day!

Morning Magic

11:10–11:35 – Sunny Steps Loves to Dance with Ali Thompson (Ages 4+)

A joyful movement workshop full of twirls, wiggles, and imagination. (Booking recommended)

11:45–11:50 – Percy the Extraordinary Explorer (Ages 4+)

A bite‑sized reading from Sarah J Merrien.

Midday Adventures

11:55–12:20 – Adventures with the Mayor’s Bear with Jon Harvey (Ages 8–12)

Creative writing, conversation, and hope‑filled storytelling about changing communities for the better. (Booking recommended)

12:28–12:33 – The Danger Kids (Ages 6+)

A thrilling reading from Maaya Brooker

12:35–13:00 – Who is at the Door? Daniel Dinosaur and Friends with Stacey Gittens (All ages)

Singing, acting, designing, and exploring emotions with Daniel Dinosaur and friends. (Booking recommended)

13:11–13:16 – Reading a Mister Mishkin’s adventure

Reader: Samantha Mattocks (Ages 8+)

13:54–13:59 – Reading The Fox and the Fozgrak (Ages 3+)

Reader: Laura Townshend

Afternoon Activities

14:00–14:20 – Spadger Finds His Way Home with Carolann Hinson (Ages 5+)

A gentle, compassionate workshop inspired by real experiences of memory loss and family connection. (Booking recommended)

14:37–14:42 – Reading

Reader: Melissa Hargreaves

14:45–15:10 – There’s a Monkey on My Shoulder with Tana MacPherson‑Smith (Ages 11+)

A powerful session on understanding emotions, anxiety, and inner strength, featuring Bert the shoulder‑monkey himself. (Booking recommended)

15:20–15:25 – Max and the Thousand Thoughts (Ages 8+)

A reading from Ellis Greaves, author of Max and the Thousand Thoughts.

Throughout the day, children can dance, create, imagine, write, explore emotions, meet authors, and discover the joy of storytelling in a warm, welcoming space.
