This special event invites you to discover the wonders of the 18th-century gardens, which have been carefully restored as part of a five-year Heritage Lottery project. Whether you're a history enthusiast or simply looking for a fun day out, there’s something for everyone.
As you immerse yourself in history and heritage in the Park, join MK Lit Fest in The Talks Tent for two unique events:
-
1.15pm: a talk from a new community project - City of Secrets - that is mapping people’s tales of Milton Keynes as a liminal, haunted landscape where grid squares meet ghost stories
-
3.15pm: readings from our brilliant #MinK anthologies as fantastic local writers take a fresh look at our city.
Our readers, and their pieces, will be:
-
Graham R Sherwood - We Come in Peace
-
Naia Makwana - Doll House
-
Stella Girvin - MK Central Railway Station
-
Jerard Bretts - Spirit of Place
-
Isobel Richards - Concrete City
-
Steph Lay - What Lies Drowned May Rise
-
Sarah Davies - Google "City of Dreams"
-
Sharon Clark - Unexpected Alliances
-
Dave Wakely - The Plague Field, 2020
Elsewhere in the Park, you can experience:
-
Guided Walks: learn about the fascinating history and landscape of the park with expert-led tours
-
Volunteers in period costume: step back in time as volunteers dressed in historical attire bring the past to life
-
Community stalls: explore local crafts and community offerings
-
Children's entertainment: fun activities to keep the little ones entertained
-
live music and fabulous food: enjoy a lively atmosphere with music performances and delicious food.
