Simon Garfield has just completed the first draft of his new book, which is about dogs. Because there are already a great many other books about dogs, he knew he would need some original input. He enlisted the help of his 12-year-old Labrador Ludo.

Fortunately for Garfield, Ludo took to the task enthusiastically, and ended up writing pretty much the whole thing. He covers the history, science and culture of dogs, and is gratefully assisted by a Mexican Hairless fact-checker named Pedro. It won’t be published until next year, so this is your chance to sample the first ever non-fiction book about what really matters to a dog. Pending other commitments, Ludo hopes to be in attendance.

Simon Garfield is an author and editor. He has written several best-selling books of non-fiction, including Just My Type, On The Map, To The Letter and Mauve, all without the help of his dog. His latest book is In Miniature: How Small Things Illuminate the World.

Ludo GoToYourBed is a fine ambassador for his breed, and for all dogs in general. He is currently at work on his first book of short stories.
