Discover Milton Keynes’ bestselling author Lizzie Damilola Blackburn, and her sparkling debut Yinka, Where is Your Huzband?
Yinka wants to find love. Her mum wants to find it for her. She also has too many aunties praying for her delivery from singledom, a preference for chicken and chips over traditional Nigerian food, and a bum she’s sure is far too small as a result. When her cousin gets engaged, Yinka commences Operation Find A Date for Rachel's Wedding. Will Yinka find herself a huzband? And what if the thing she really needs is to find herself?
Join Lizzie live in conversation about Yinka, the highs and lows of her journey to getting published, and what’s coming next…
About Lizzie Damilola Blackburn
Lizzie Damilola Blackburn is a British-Nigerian writer, born in Peckham, who wants to tell the stories that she and her friends have longed for but never seen – romcoms ‘where Cinderella is Black and no one bats an eyelid’.
In 2019 she won the Literary Consultancy Pen Factor Writing Competition with the early draft of Yinka, Where is your Huzband?, which she had been writing alongside juggling her job at Carers UK. Her uplifting debut weaves a hilarious and irresistibly witty narrative about love, family and self-acceptance, and is now a Times bestseller and one of Marie Claire’s Books of 2022.
She has been at the receiving end of the question in the title of her novel many times, and now lives with her husband in Milton Keynes.
