2018 Festival Headliners

The events below were just a selection of the feast of treats on offer during MK Lit Fest 2018.

MK Lit Fest Launch Party with Lemn Sissay

Headlined by poet, playwright and broadcaster Lemn Sissay with performances by contributors to MinK, the new literary zine for Milton Keynes, and live music from Smith and Brewer. Tickets include refreshments.

Lit Fest Book Club - Mary Lynn Bracht: White Chrysanthemum

Join us for a special Lit Fest Book Club event with one of 'the new faces of fiction for 2018' (The Observer). Mary Lynn Bracht first learned of the Korean ‘comfort women’  who were captured and set up in brothels for the Japanese military when she visited her mother's childhood village in 2002. White Chrysanthemum is her first novel.


Hollie McNish

A poet whose readings are not to be missed, Hollie's online performances have garnered over seven million YouTube views. She joins MK Lit Fest to perform poems, read from and chat honestly and openly from her new collection, Plum, as well as performing some favourites from previous books.

Mark Haddon: New Writing

Join the world-famous author of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time, The Red House and The Pier Falls as he reads extracts from the latest draft of his forthcoming novel.

Shonaleigh Cumbers

Shonaleigh is a drut’syla, a storyteller in a Jewish tradition inherited from her late grandmother. Working actively to expand and share her tradition, she has performed in venues from church halls to London’s Albert Hall, from forests to the Barbican, and at festivals around the world. She also works in schools and among community groups to help people - particularly teenagers and the immigrant community - find their voice.
