Dan Cruickshank's most recent book, Architecture: A History in 100 Buildings (William Collins, 2019), journeys through time and place from the ancient Egyptian pyramids to the soaring skyscrapers of Manhattan. Dan explores key buildings in architectural history, such as the Pantheon, the Taj Mahal in India and the Forbidden City as well as less obvious structures like Oriel Chambers in Liverpool and Moscow's Narkomfin Apartment Building.

Dan is an architectural historian and regular BBC presenter, best known for his series and accompanying book, Around the World in 80 TreasuresHe has travelled extensively, filming in troubled regions including Afghanistan to discover what cultural treasures remained after years of civil war, and reporting on the scale of looting of Iraqi treasures.

He is an Honorary Fellow of RIBA with a BA in Art, Design and Architecture. As a leading expert on architecture and historic buildings, he is a frequent contributor to The Architects’ Journal and The Architectural Review. Dan is a member of the Architectural Panel of the National Trust.
